About the Role

We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This role requires a unique blend of passion for user-centered design, a deep understanding of user experience, and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker who actively seeks to understand customer needs and enjoys iterating their designs through user feedback.

This is a part-time, contract role for about 3 months with opportunities to extend.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design for native app and adaptive web features across mobile, desktop, and tablet to ensure an optimal user experience.

  • Create iterative design documentation including user journey flows, wireframes, visual designs, prototypes, and detailed specifications of behaviors and design implementation.

  • Conduct user research (from usability studies, surveys, interviews, etc.) and usability testing to gather feedback, generate usage metrics, understand user needs, and inform design choices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and marketing, to create seamless and effective designs.

  • Consider technical constraints and opportunities, working closely with engineers to guide designs from concept to implementation.

  • Help implement and maintain Tembo Health’s design system

  • Take full ownership of projects, from concept through to execution, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

  • Stay abreast of UI/UX trends and best practices, applying them to improve our products and processes.

Travel Requirements:

We expect this role to potentially have up to 10% of travel for team meetings as well as user research and stakeholder engagement with our community customers and partners.

About You


You’ll be a fit for this role if you have:

  • 3+ years of proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates a human-centered design approach and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).

  • Experience with user research and usability testing.

  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Bonus qualifications:

  • Experience with designing with accessibility and seniors in mind

  • Experience in healthcare UX/UI design
